Usyk-Fury II press conference. No messages, no changes. Just boxing!

London hosted its inaugural press conference to announce the Usyk-Fury rematch.

Michael Buffer kicked off this historic event by welcoming two-time former world champion “Gypsy King” Tyson Fury!” – appearing to the charming music ‘Life in plastic, it’s fantastic.’

Successfully defended his status through 22 fights resulting in 22 wins (14 knockouts) with no losses – Oleksandr Usyk made an unforgettable entrance with Ave Maria playing as background. Acting out the role of a hitman during an incredible appearance he even brought a mysterious briefcase.

The questions came then.

Tyson Fury highlights

“Last time in May it was a fantastic fight; Olexandr won the fight fair and square. And I’m just looking for a great fight again.”

Commenting on how the first in his career defeat impacted Fury, he said: That was meant to be and we’re going to find out what’s going to be in December the 21st. I believe it’ll be my time this time. And I hope you guys will enjoy this fight as much as I will.

“It was very close last time. The next time I have to be a little bit more focused, and a little bit more lack of complacency. I should do the job that need to. Nothing drastic has to change – a little bit more focus, like I said and I will be victorious”.

Eventually, Fury expressed confidence in the next fight outcome: “It always was the same and ended up one way. I always knock them out in the rematch whoever I faced more than once. So I’m envisaging something similar in this second fight with Usyk”.

Usik’s character

The Ukrainian was mostly taciturn. To the question of what’s in the briefcase, he opened it, got a few posters and brought them to Fury to sign on. Then set them back to the briefcase, joking that tomorrow we will find them on eBay.

Speaking on the upcoming clash he said “My routine and my concentration are my motivation”. Usyk as well doesn’t think he needs to do anything differently.

Throwing jokes and tickling after face-off

Turn out that for both opponents, the first fight was full of surprises that they both could not remember. They face off a bit and conclude that what happens in May does not matter. It clearly seemed that compared with the first fight, the exchange was much more easy. It gives the impression of a deep respect between the two.

Team members share insights

Both teams were extremely enthusiastic about the second fight.

Frank Warren Fury’s promoter believes this fight will be truly amazing: “All of us remember Olexander vs Tyson as an epic match with all belts on the line. But this one promises to be even better since both fighters already know one another in the ring and understand each other.”

Oleksandr Krasiuk, Usyk’s promoter, acknowledged it was an unprecedented event, commenting: “I’ve watched how these two fight and think the upcoming matchup will be another true miracle. May the best of them win! Again.”

Fury’s manager Spencer Brown noted there has never been such an intense focus on championship belt fights before: “I still believe Tyson is the top heavyweight boxer and will beat Olexander”.

Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas expressed his hope that judges would be fair, boxers would remain injury-free and that the best fighter would emerge triumphant from this fight.

Erston Hearn reminded us to also look out for an incredible undercard featuring the headline. “With so many happening around I feel like I am the winner here”. He wished Good luck to Olexander and Tyson!
