Usyk’s manager Egis Klimas wants to arrange a rematch with Dubois after Usyk-Fury II

Now that Dubois possesses the IBF heavyweight title, it would be “perfect” to organize a fight between the two after the Ukrainian’s victory over Fury in the rematch, according to Klimas. “I don’t think anybody else left in the heavyweight division […] After Tyson Fury, for Olexandr will be perfect to fight with Daniel. He can prove for sure how he can beat him and become an Undisputed heavyweight for the second time”, he said to the Boxing King Media. Of course, Usyk’s manager has no doubt about who’s victory on December 21.

A rematch between Usyk and Dubois if ever happens is sure to be exciting. The young Briton, a current IBF heavyweight belt holder has improved his skills since their last bout with Usyk. He got over such fighters as Anthony Joshua and Jarrell Miller. But will it be enough to beat Usyk, who has already proven himself as the absolute champion of the world?

The controversial first match

The opponents met earlier in 2023, and Oleksandr Usyk emerged victorious from that fight. Many fans are bothered by a moment in round 5th when ‘Dynamite’ Dubois hit a low blow, and the referee gave Usyk time to recover. They felt like Dubois was being cheated because the fight had stopped instead of admitting knockdown.

Since then, Daniel Dubois is still a thorn in the side of current WBA WBO WBC heavyweight Oleksandr Usyk. They both have 22 wins in their professional record but very different boxing paths, which only hits the interest in a potential clash.

Dubois’ current plans

Recently, in an interview with Sky Sports, Frank Warren claimed that the Dubois vs Joshua rematch won’t happen as planned. The IBF Champion’s promoter has excluded Fabio Wardley as Dubois’s future opponent as well.  Warren believes that despite Wardley’s desire for a showdown Wardley should first gain more experience.

Dubois will defend his IBF title for a second time on February 22. His opponent has yet to be announced but hinted that it would be a major opponent.  The hope is to eventually get a shot at the victor of the Usyk-Fury re-fight for the undisputed title.
